Dwayne Bravo receiving his history-making contracts from his Agent on the eve of his signing to China Harbour.

CaribPR Wire, LONDON, England, Mon. Dec. 16, 2013: Global T20 superstar and West Indies Cricket ODI Captain, Dwayne Bravo, has just made history by becoming the first international cricketer to partner with one of the largest Chinese corporate entities in the world.

Billionaire Engineering, Construction and Consultancy giant, China Harbour, has appointed the 30-year-old as their sporting brand ambassador, making them the first ever globally-ranked Chinese firm to affiliate with a West Indies cricketing star.

The high-profile signing will see Bravo featured in exclusive ad campaigns and conducting personal appearances on behalf of the leading infrastructure construction company, which becomes his official corporate sponsor ahead of a packed West Indies playing schedule. That includes the upcoming one-day international series against New Zealand followed by the team’s home series against England and subsequent participation in the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, where the West Indies will defend their T20 Championship title, early next year.

Speaking to the media on the eve of his signing, Bravo said: “To become the first international and West Indian cricketer to be sponsored by a globally renowned Chinese firm is an incredible honor and a privilege. The Chinese are by far one of the most powerful nations in the world today, thus their introduction into, and their presence within West Indies cricket, will make a tremendous difference not just for us as cricketers but for the entire Caribbean region. For me to be the first cricketer to be bestowed with such a prestigious partnership is an incredible feeling and I further hope that our affiliation will pave the way for significant ongoing relations and investment between China and the Caribbean, long-term.”

Bravo’s agent, Emma Everett, added that they had actively discussed affiliating with the lucrative Chinese market for some time and were thrilled that China Harbour reciprocated the significance of such a partnership despite cricket still being a virtually unknown sport in China.

“Dwayne has made history today,” said Everett. “He has become the first international cricketer to venture into the powerful Chinese market whilst cricket as a sport remains relatively new in China, and for him to have done so by affiliating with a global powerhouse such as China Harbour, indicates the Company’s faith and confidence in him to represent their brand across the world with the same degree of international standing and success. Dwayne Bravo is the epitome of everything China Harbour places at the core of its morale: dynamic, dedicated and entirely focused on getting the job done.”

China Harbour’s regional General Manager, Mr. Deng Bo, echoed Bravo and his representative’s delight at the brand ambassador signing, stating that this was his company’s first foray onto the international cricketing scene.

Whilst it is a new concept for us to affiliate with a sporting brand ambassador, we are thrilled by this exciting partnership and look forward to Dwayne Bravo leading our brand and ethos with the same diligence and commitment he displays when representing West Indies Cricket,” said Mr. Bo. “China Harbour already has a substantial presence in the Caribbean, therefore, we are proud to associate our brand with a Caribbean and international superstar, to elongate our ongoing relationship with the Caribbean region and the rest of the world. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with our new ambassador Dwayne Bravo.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CaribPR Wire, ST. THOMAS, USVI, Thurs. Nov. 28, 2013: Thanksgiving is traditionally a time when the community opens their hearts and wallets to help their less fortunate neighbors. Leave it to advertising professionals to come up with a clever way to collect food for the hungry.

The Caribbean Advertising Federation is hosting the territory’s first-ever Canstruction event in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Canstruction® is a competition that pits corporate teams against each other to create the best sculpture made entirely of canned foods. The works of canned art are judged, exhibited to the public, and then dismantled and distributed to Catholic Charities of the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Salvation Army and Family Resource Center.

The competition is being hosted at Tutu Park Mall in the former FYE store this Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

“Just look for the store with truckloads of canned foods,” said Renae Quinton, President of the Caribbean Advertising Federation. “Also look for the corporate banners. We are very pleased that major corporations are choosing our Canstruction project to help the community and have fun doing it.”

Scotiabank’s sculpture alone will consist of more than 1,200 cans. Sadie Clendinen, Marketing Manager for Scotiabank is looking forward to this “uncanny” event.

“The employees of Scotiabank conduct a food drive every year. This is a different and very visible way of bringing community attention to the fact that we have hungry families right here on St. Thomas. We are making sure everyone on St. Thomas has a healthy holiday meal and having a great time doing it,” said Clendinen.

There is no admission fee to watch the Canstruction event and cheer on your favorite corporate team. Scotiabank, Choice Wireless®, MLB Creative and the V.I. Daily News will be vying for the best use of labels and structural design. You can vote for your favorite sculpture by donating one can of food, so bring a bag to donate and vote multiple times.

The Caribbean Advertising Federation is a division of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the largest advertising organization in the United States providing a professional conduit for networking, resource sharing and to promote member businesses. Current President, Renae Quinton from Barbados said “Our local leadership headed by MLB Creative has done a great job in collecting thousands of cans of food worth thousands of dollars. I would also like to thank Plaza Extra for providing our builders with a discount on the canned goods and TuTu Park Mall for the competition space.”

Barbados To Host 1st CAF Workshop In 18 Years

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CaribPR Wire, BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Tues. Nov. 26, 2013: The Caribbean Advertising Federation (CAF) took home an impressive number of ADDY awards in 2013, confirming that the talent coming out of this region is bright and widespread.

On Wednesday December 4th, 2013 the Caribbean Advertising Federation (CAF) will be hosting a workshop at Accra Beach Hotel & Spa, Barbados for attendees to view last year’s national ADDY winning submissions. To win an ADDY at national level means to create advertising that stands out against over 40,000 competing pieces.

The CAF workshop serves to showcase the brilliant work created here in the Caribbean, to not only our regional counterparts, but also to our wider audience across the USA. It will also teach attendees how to use this year’s newly developed software for submissions, which are due on January 4th, 2014.

Winning Caribbean ADDY pieces are entered into the fourth district competition along with South Florida winners.  In last year’s awards, agencies that are part of the CAF took home an impressive amount of awards in almost every category. Everything Slight Pepper won a Charlie Award for Best of Sales Promotion and also a Gold ADDY for Single Unite Packaging for 3ZERO Rums by 3ZERO Ltd.

2013 was the first time in history a Caribbean agency has won a district Charlie Award. Trinidadian agency McCann Erickson took home the District’s coveted Mosaic Award that recognises cultural diversity.

Terri Brown, our founder and ADDY Chair, won The Jack Phillips Gold Medal award. This is the highest honor in the AAF Fourth District. This award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to advertising and furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence, and public service.

This not only shows the superior level of talent our Caribbean Universities and Colleges are churning out, but also how this talent is being used to create such dynamic advertising.
CAF members, marketing agencies, freelance talent, creative students, and marketing managers are the attendees who will be part of the workshop on the December 4th.

The purpose of this workshop is to launch and review the process for this year’s award submissions.  The new software will make submissions easier, less expensive and less time consuming than previous years. Terri Brown will be hosting this part of the workshop and providing an overview as well as tips for this year’s submission.

“The CAF was able to shine in last year’s submissions, but in seeing all the great package designs on our shelves and moving to radio jingles, there is a whole lot more that is award-worthy.  We are looking to make this the best year yet for CAF,” says Renae Quinton, President of CAF.

Once the software is learnt and the agencies are ready, we are looking forward to seeing what they all have to offer and how many awards we can bring home to the Caribbean next year.

The ADDY deadline is January 14th, 2014 for work published between January 1st, 2013 and December 31st, 2013.

Petrotechnics & University of Trinidad and Tobago Celebrate the First Graduating Candidates from Integral Hazard Awareness Courses

HOUSTON, 29 October 2013 /PRNewswire/ – Following the successful launch of the strategic partnership between Petrotechnics and the University of Trinidad & Tobago (UTT) in late 2012, the partnership has successfully certified its first graduates in the Hazard Identification and Task Risk Assessment courses. The courses were designed to help develop locally supported high quality critical hazard awareness and risk assessment capabilities for the oil and gas workforce in the region.

The initiative prompted by bp Trinidad and Tobago recognised the need for locally provided consistent and ongoing training for its offshore workers as well as to develop local capability in this space. Bp’s strong ongoing connection to both Petrotechnics and UTT offered a powerful self-sustaining business model using Petrotechnics’ world renowned training consultants to deliver its unparalleled ‘train the trainer’ courses within a highly respected academic institution.

After a year, this ground-breaking programme has produced the first series of fully certified trainers. The first crop of graduates have been assessed in a broad range of Control of Work competencies including Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HITRA) and Sentinel PRO® Level 1 and 2 training courses.

Petrotechnics’ senior training consultant, Mike Bowie, spent over a week supervising the final assessments for the candidates. To make sure that the programme produced more than conceptual understanding, the candidates were put through intensive and comprehensive observation of their learning and technical application by real life bp delegates.

Following the successful field assessment as part of this certification of these first candidates, they are now able to provide hazard awareness and CoW training for local workers without supervision.

Speaking of the partnership and progress, Iain Mackay, Executive Vice President of Petrotechnics stated “It’s a major milestone for all parties, Petrotechnics, bp , the University and most of all for the successful candidates. Petrotechnics has always been a firm believer in empowering individuals and local communities. Especially when it comes to ensuring safer, more effective risk management in our industry. With our track record of delivering safety education and industry leading work management software solutions including our new Operational Performance & Predictive Risk platform, Proscient; the support of UTT and the growth of the local industry cultivating self sustaining local safety capabilities was the most logical and rewarding thing to do. We hope these first few candidates will be the start of a significant wave of local safety talent within the region. ”

Zameer Mohammed, Assistant Vice President of the UTT’s Profession Education Unit commented on the successful engagement among the stakeholders: “The initiative was one of the better examples of an entrepreneurial engagement among industry, academia, and community. This triple helix engagement was an approach consistent with the University’s mission. The result of this inevitably can produce a cadre of Trinidad and Tobago nationals fully equipped with the competency set to sustain the requirements of industry.”

Petrotechnics and UTT have plans to build in the partnership, adding annual re-accreditation and expanding the coverage of the courses to include Isolations Management and Safety Leadership.
