Salvadoran Officer Extradited To Spain Over 1989 Jesuit Massacre

According to Spanish authorities on Wednesday, a former Salvadoran colonel was extradited to Spain after he allegedly helped organize the 1989 massacre of six Jesuit priests and two others in El Salvador, The Associated Press reported. Spain’s National Court said Inocente Orlando Montano Morales reached Madrid Wednesday morning from the United States and is set to appear in court on Thursday. Montano was charged with terrorist murder for the killings of the Jesuit priests, their housekeeper and the housekeeper’s daughter, the report said. Five of the priests were Spaniards.
