Ukraine’s President Signs Decree To Offer Citizenship To Russian Political Refugees

Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy signed a decree on Tuesday which offers citizenship to Russians enduring political persecution and to foreigners fighting on Ukraine’s side in the ongoing conflict hitting eastern Ukraine, according to Radio Free Europe. Zelenskiy first announced the decision last month after Moscow said it was expanding the number of Ukrainians living in Donetsk and Luhansk to apply for Russian passports. Ukraine, the European Union, and other Western countries decried Moscow’s move as an attempt to undermine Ukrainian sovereignty in the occupied regions.
