Volcanic Ash Keeps Bali Airport Airport Closed For Second Day

A volcano continued gushing a column of ash into the air on Tuesday which closed the airport on the Indonesian tourist island of Bali for a second day, disrupting travel for thousands while authorities continued to warn nearby villagers to evacuate, according to The Washington Post. Mount Agung started rumbling last week before throwing clouds of the white and gray ash around 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) above its cone, with lava welling in the crater, hinting at further destruction by a red-orange glow in the ash clouds. Explosions can be heard about 12 kilometers (7 1/2 miles) away so the airport authority said the closure of flights would remain in effect for another 24 hours due to safety…
